Tour of Helsinki

The Helsinki tour starts from the railway station and will take in such sites as the Ateneum art museum and Finland’s national theatre with the statue of Aleksis Kivi sitting in front.

From here we pass the famous Stockmann’s shop. We then proceed to walk down the scenic Esplanade taking note of the many statues of famous Finnish writers and poets.

The statue of the Havis Amanda leads us to the market square by the sea where we can enjoy a view of the islands as well as the President’s palace and the Orthodox Church before turning down the museum street and on to the Senate square.

The Senate square offers us the chance to see the statue of Alexandra II of Russia, the prime minister’s office and the university library. The cathedral of Helsinki dominates the senate square and we shall get the chance to visit inside, here we can also find a gift shop or even stop for some coffee in the crypt.

After these refreshments we return to the railway station. This tour lasts for 1 hour 30 minutes.
